Band Good Morning
Band Good Morning
Level: beginner
Equipment: bands
Force: pull
Mechanic: compound
Core muscles: hamstrings
Secondary muscle: glutes, lower back

Description

Band good morning focuses on controlled movement and maintaining proper body alignment throughout the exercise. The goal is to create tension where needed while avoiding unnecessary strain or momentum. This helps improve movement quality, joint stability, and overall physical control.

Instructions:

  1. Using a 41 inch band, stand on one end, spreading your feet a small amount. Bend at the hips to loop the end of the band behind your neck. This will be your starting position.
  2. Keeping your legs straight, extend through the hips to come to a near vertical position.
  3. Ensure that you do not round your back as you go down back to the starting position.

Exercise FAQ

What’s a common mistake people make here?

Rushing reps and losing body position. Keep the movement smooth and repeatable so tension stays where you want it.

What should I focus on to keep good form?

Move with control and keep your torso stable. Use a range of motion you can own, and stop the set if you need momentum to finish reps. Think of it as controlled movement done with repeatable, clean reps.

How should I program this in a workout?

Use it after your warm-up when you’re fresh. Aim for 2–4 sets and choose a rep range that matches your goal (strength: lower reps; muscle: moderate reps).
