One Half Locust Exercise
Builds strength and control by improving stability, coordination, and efficient movement.
Description
One half locust focuses on controlled movement and maintaining proper body alignment throughout the exercise. The goal is to create tension where needed while avoiding unnecessary strain or momentum. This helps improve movement quality, joint stability, and overall physical control.
Instructions:
- Lie facedown on the floor.
- Put your left hand under your left hipbone to pad your hip and pubic bone.
- Bend your right knee so you can hold the foot in your right hand.
- Lift the foot in the air and simultaneously lift your shoulders off the floor. This also stretches the right hip flexor and the chest and shoulders. Switch sides. If it doesn't bother your back, you can try it with both arms and legs at the same time.
Exercise FAQ
What should I focus on to keep good form?
Move with control and keep your torso stable. Use a range of motion you can own, and stop the set if you need momentum to finish reps.
What should I do if I feel it in the wrong place?
Check your setup, slow down, and reduce weight. If discomfort is sharp or in a joint, stop and choose an easier variation. Think of it as controlled movement done with repeatable, clean reps.
Which muscles should feel like they’re doing most of the work?
You should feel the target muscles working while the rest of the body stays braced. If a joint or the lower back is doing the heavy lifting, reduce load and tighten your setup.
