Chain Handle Extension Exercise
Builds strength and control by improving stability, coordination, and efficient movement.
Description
Chain handle extension focuses on controlled movement and maintaining proper body alignment throughout the exercise. The goal is to create tension where needed while avoiding unnecessary strain or momentum. This helps improve movement quality, joint stability, and overall physical control.
Instructions:
- You will need two cable handle attachments and a flat bench, as well as chains, for this exercise. Clip the middle of the chains to the handles, and position yourself on the flat bench. Your elbows should be pointing straight up.
- Begin by extending through the elbow, keeping your upper arm still, with your wrists pronated.
- Pause at the lockout, and reverse the motion to return to the starting position.
Exercise FAQ
How can I make this exercise harder without adding a lot of weight?
Slow down the lowering phase, add a brief pause in the hardest position, or increase total reps while keeping form crisp.
Does grip or stance matter?
Yes—small changes can shift what you feel and how stable you are. Pick the most controlled position and keep it consistent while you learn the movement. Think of it as controlled movement done with repeatable, clean reps.
What should I do if I feel it in the wrong place?
Check your setup, slow down, and reduce weight. If discomfort is sharp or in a joint, stop and choose an easier variation. Think of it as controlled movement done with repeatable, clean reps.
